    Part musical adventure and part journey of enlightenment. Paper Trails by DD SOT is a collection of musical pieces. Challenging the senses with complex musical ideas and grabs of spoken word. And occasionally attempts at singing.

    promote the ideals of leaving a better equipped generation for a better future for all. I sense with all the distractions and poor guidance of modern society, that these ideals are often overlooked. I'm drawn to the idea of learning from others, looking at what impact we can make on our generation that could help future generations be better. This album has topics that look forward with hope, a reflective learning experience, some discontent and a challenge to overcome.”

Paper Trails is what is left behind from our legacy. Not physical paper, in most cases it’s a trail of life lived and experiences good and bad from our own and other people’s perspective. Lessons learned, positive or negative?

Relating to these tracks, people close to me may recognize some of them. They are ideas I thought I had put to bed a long time ago. Originally written between 2006 and 2012. Shared but
unpublished. They were the perfect platform to put up for this motivational and challenging
project. On “Afraid of Nothing, Careful of Everything - My father speaks, I listen. He has dementia and is in aged care. I love him. I enjoy listening to his stories and thought patterns. A generation influencing the next.

The music is crafted with precision, everything is purposeful. Edits made and frequencies shifted. Glitches created and often embraced. Mixed 100 times and still sounds weird. Making music for DD SOT is sometimes a long process. “My workflow can be tedious at times. Probably procrastinating over nothing in particular. I’m also a drummer with pronounced tinnitus... so, getting the right audio balance is a bit of a guessing game for me. If it feels right enough through the speakers or headphones, I go with it.”

This may create a challenging or uncomfortable listen for some. Conflicting sine and saw waves, beats layered, weird artifacts pop up in the mix. Synths, guitars, drums and percussion.
Modulations and frequencies clashing.

But so be it. Paper Trails is now realized and released for your enjoyment and
betterment. Stay tuned for more tunes and uploads.
